System type
On-Grid Solar
The standard choice where grid supply is reliable
On-grid is what we install on roughly eight out of ten sites. It has no batteries, which means nothing in the system needs replacing in year seven, and it gives the shortest payback. The one thing it does not do is run during a grid outage - that is a safety requirement, not a limitation of the equipment.
How this system works for you
Left to right, this is what actually happens on your site every day.
-
1
Sunlight hits the panels
DC power is produced whenever there is daylight.
-
2
Inverter converts DC to AC
Your building consumes this power first, automatically.
-
3
Surplus flows to the grid
The net meter records every exported unit.
-
4
Night usage is adjusted
Exported units are set off against what you import.
-
5
You pay the difference
The monthly bill only charges the net units consumed.
